Wales Millennium Centre and the National Theatre have announced the return of Nye, Tim Price‘s (Teh Internet is Serious Business) epic Welsh fantasia, directed by Rufus Norris (Small Island), which charts the life of Aneurin ‘Nye’ Bevan and his battle to create the NHS. Aneurin ‘Nye’ Bevan, the architect of the NHS, is regarded as one of the most influential politicians in British history. Confronted with death, his memories take him on a surreal journey through his life – from childhood in Tredegar to Parliament, facing fierce battles with Churchill – in the return of this visually striking and deeply moving production.

This groundbreaking production, a co-production between Wales Millennium Centre and the National Theatre, reaffirms the Millennium Centre’s commitment to world-class storytelling rooted in Welsh heritage. Following sell-out seasons in London and Cardiff last year, Michael Sheen returns to play Nye Bevan, once more bringing this legendary Welsh figure to life in a theatrical experience that captures the spirit and resilience of Wales.

Following a celebrated premiere at the National Theatre in London, Nye returns for a strictly limited run at Wales’ premier cultural venue: Director Rufus Norris leads a creative team featuring set designer Vicki Mortimer, costume designer Kinnetia Isidore, lighting designer Paule Constable, co-choreographers Steven Hoggett and Jess Williams, composer Will Stuart, sound designer Donato Wharton, projection designer Jon Driscoll, revival co-director Francesca Goodridge, casting by Alastair Coomer CDG, Chloe Blake and Martin Poile. Dialect coach Patricia Logue, voice coaches Cathleen McCarron and Tamsin Newlands, consultant medical advisor Matt Morgan, and associate lighting designer Lucy Adams.

The production is produced by Pádraig Cusack.
