“Make Your Own Kind of Music” so sang Mama Cass Elliott in the 1960’s and with Blue Thunder, Michael McConnell is doing just that – his own kind of Blues. Blues/Rock guitarist, Singer/Songwriter – Mick McConnell has been in the music business a long time and was an in-house songwriter for music publishing giants Warner Chappell. Mick also currently continues to tour the world playing lead guitar with Bradford legends ‘Smokie’.

At the beginning of 2023. Mick decided that it’s time to put a band together to play his brand of Blues-Rock! Whilst in many ways starting at the bottom . . . like all new bands, Mick is hoping that his no-nonsense offering will bring his name to the attention of the Blues faithful in the UK and beyond. 2023 marked the first of his shows with his band ‘Blue Thunder’

He stated recently, “We don’t jam” . . . “We play carefully crafted songs, just as they are played on the album”. At a recent gig at Venue23 in Wakefield, the band filmed the entire show in 4K and songs from this event will soon be ready to share Another gig at Tapestry Arts Centre in Bradford was recorded and mixing is underway for a new live album which will be released at the beginning of 2025.

In any industry you are in, repeat customers are a sign that you are doing many things right and ticking their boxes. At every single gig to date! …. The band has been rebooked!!!! Both of the venues featured above are also on the tour which starts at the beginning of January at Harrogate’s Blues Bar and concludes in February at London’s Legendary 100 Club.
