Organisers at Threshold Festival in Liverpool have revealed their entire line-up in one fell swoop as their 15-year reunion and final celebration approaches. Threshold Was Here on August 1st 2026 will feature a raft of local and legendary talent including Natalie McCool (above), Mersey Wylie, Tosin Trio, Helen Maw, Karl McCann, Goeghegan Jackson, The Good Host, Hollows, Def Neon, DJ Rasp, Science of the Lamps, Mixnots and many more.
From their Instagram (@thresholdfest), Facebook (/thresholdfestival) and YouTube (@thresholdfest) accounts, audiences can watch videos with Co-Founder Kaya Herstad-Carney (below) out and about in the Baltic Triangle talking about how the event began and how it developed alongside the creative district of Liverpool. Ahead of its packed musical programme, the festival will open the doors of District on Jordan Street from 12pm to 13:30pm to all creatives of Liverpool for informal round-table discussions on the topic ‘What is the future of grassroots music and arts in Liverpool?’
Threshold Festival was founded in 2011 by Chris and Kaya Herstad Carney as a community-led arts platform rooted in collaboration, experimentation, diversity and accessibility. Over ten years, Threshold became known for transforming unconventional spaces across the Baltic Triangle into immersive creative environments, blending music, visual art, performance, theatre, installations, talks and community activism long before the district became one of Liverpool’s cultural focal points.
It cemented itself as the first festival of the calendar year in Liverpool, unofficially opening up the season of events. So, why is the celebration in August and not Spring? Well, Chris has the answer to this: “We also got married on July 30th of 2011 and we thought this could make a pretty good double celebration. 15 years of Threshold and the Herstad-Carneys.” Although never regarded as a headliner festival, the event hosted celebrated artists and acts such as: Akala, David Hoyle, Rob Vincent, Nubiyan Twist, Laura J Martin, Paddy Steer, Hannah Peel, DJ Rasp, The Destroyers, Jollyboat, Beans on Toast and SK Shlomo.
