In this absurdist clown comedy, a cheese maggot arrives on stage to convince the audience that he comes in peace. Along the way, he challenges one of the greatest philosophers of all time, attempts to prove him wrong, and even explains the meaning of life in the process… Featuring Teatro Pomodoro’s Simone Tani and live music by Marco Riola, this surreal and mischievous duo of Sardinians living in Liverpool serve up laughter, music, and a dangerously delicious taste of their magical Mediterranean island.

With hilarious costumes designed by Carmen Arquelladas and lighting by Xenia Bayer, the performance immerses audiences in a grotesque and playful theatrical universe reminiscent of Ubu Roi by Alfred Jarry. Simone Tani from Teatro Pomodoro said:

“I moved to Liverpool in 2015 and founded Teatro Pomodoro with four other actors from Spain, Canada, Japan and Huyton; we all met in Paris at the famous clown and theatre school Ecole Philippe Gaulier. We all gathered here in Liverpool because it has a vibrant theatre scene and arts scene in general.  Since I moved here, I have worked with Unity Theatre, Lantern Company, the Invisible Wind Factory, Hope Street Limited with which I took part in a performance at the Tate Gallery. I also run Studio 1 at the Blue Coat with Sole Rebel and Holistic Harmonies and I toured my theatre workshops in Japan, Malesia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Australia and more and one of my goals is touring this show internationally.”
