A dizzying gateway between modern dance and the ancient heartbeat of Ireland

Nine-venue Dance Consortium tour opens at Lowry, Salford on 3 & 4 February 2026. Michael Keegan-Dolan’s company Teaċ Daṁsa brings its triumphant 2020 production MÁM to the UK for a nine-venue Dance Consortium tour, opening at Lowry, Salford on 3 and 4 February.  MÁM premiered with sell-out performances at Sadler’s Wells in 2020 and was nominated for an Olivier Award for Best New Dance Production that year.

MÁM is a meeting place between soloist and ensemble, classical and traditional, the local and universal.​ Twelve fluent and fearless dancers summon a whirlwind of myth and magic, moved by the collaborative music-making of virtuoso Irish traditional concertina player Cormac Begley and European classical contemporary collective s t a r g a z e, performing live on stage, with one actor the still point of this ever-turning world.

MÁM‘s whirling dervish of dance, ancient rites and live music is international dance theatre at its finest, described by The Irish Times as ‘90 minutes of ritualised ecstasy’.  This visionary piece playfully and provocatively takes audiences on an overwhelming otherworldly journey through the landscape and culture of West Kerry in Ireland.
