The Bologna-based funk/rock/blues trio arrive with a brand new track: “Làbas”.
The fluid new single arrives as the trio of Aldo Betto, Blake Franchetto and Youssef Ait Bouazza, prepare for a clutch of select UK live dates this October in Manchester, Newcastle and London. Joined by the skilled musicianship of Andrea Beninati (cello), Max Castlunger (percussion), and, for the first time Riccardo Onori on sax, “Làbas” flows with new timbres and instrumentation while remaining true to the band’s visionary and far-reaching sound.
A sizzling infusion of sonics, lyrics and textures, “Làbas” finds Savana Funk continuing to explore the intersection of musical languages and traditions that has characterised their career. With introspective lyrics that dabble in both Darija and Moroccan Arabic and exotic grooves laced with African and Mediterranean influences, it’s a track that expands on the palettes of their recent album ‘Behind The Eyes’.
Savana Funk are a dynamic live band fusing funk, rock, blues, and African influences, with groove as their universal language and the stage as their natural home. Formed in Bologna in 2015 by Aldo, Blake, and Youssef, the trio have crafted a distinctive sound that now embraces Afro-Cosmic Disco, enriched by their acclaimed collaboration with international producer Gaudi.
They have performed at leading festivals including Firenze Rocks with Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sherwood Festival with Seun Kuti, A Cielo Aperto with Kokoroko, and Tanta Robba with Nu Genea. In 2025, Savana Funk expanded their international presence with a successful tour in Indonesia, a remarkable show at London’s ILMC, and a memorable performance at Sziget Festival in Budapest.
