Jane Eyre tells the story of one woman’s fight for freedom, happiness and belonging after she is orphaned and what follows a cruel childhood. Life takes her to the creepy corridors of Thornfield Hall where she discovers dark secrets but a love that overcomes obstacles. The story, which is set against the vast Yorkshire Moors, explores independence, resilience and the courage to follow your heart.

Fans of classic literature are invited to a stage adaptation of Charlotte Brontë’s gothic romance, Jane Eyre, at Theatre Royal Winchester, from Wednesday 2 September. This new staging is brought to the city by Conn Artists Theatre Company – in association with Theatre Royal Winchester (part of Play to the Crowd charity). Jane Eyre is performed by an ensemble cast of five actors and features original music and songs.

This new production is adapted for the stage by Nick Young and Ross Muir, and directed by Nick Young. Young is a director who has worked for the RSC and Connaught Theatre in Worthing; he also founded Rainbow Shakespeare, which creates open-air Shakespeare productions for family audiences. Muir is an Artistic Director, producer and actor who has performed in a range of Shakespeare classics and enjoyed playing Santa!

Conn Artists was founded in 2013 to keep regional theatre alive and oftentimes reimagine or adapt a classic or
