The free lunchtime concerts at the Tung Auditorium continue this week with a treat for lovers of the early romantic period. The Pixel Ensemble’s Sophie Rosa (violin) accompanied by Ian Buckle (piano present a trio of sonatas for violin and piano. From the drama and turbulence of Hélène de Montgeroult to the sublime poetry of Robert Schumann, via a fascinating and heartfelt work from his great friend Friedrich Gernsheim.

Formed in 2016 by pianist and director Ian Buckle, who is part of this concert at The Tung Auditorium, the Pixels Ensemble is a versatile group of chamber music players with a shared interest in performing the finest repertoire, from the classical period to the present day. Its players are all established soloists, chamber musicians, recording artists, orchestral principals and explorers of contemporary music.
