Taylor Bleu has shared the video for debut single ‘Mad House’, out now via Polydor Label Group. Taylor has also confirmed details of his first ever live show, with an intimate date at The Forge at The Lower Third on sale now for June 24th.
Having been spotted singing original snippets on Instagram and spent years actively (but thankfully, unsuccessfully) trying to avoid becoming an artist, 2026 sees Taylor Bleu open up, and let others in. Today, he’s drawn to the restless individuality of acts like Sampha, James Blake, and Frank Ocean; raw but cinematic storytelling, which captures the complex struggles – but also the endurance of spirit – behind a ‘Mad House’. The thread throughout Taylor Bleu’s music is hope, because it is here, and he made it.
A remarkable arrival, ‘Mad House’ stops the listener in their tracks. A 999-call that also serves as an angry critique towards the cynicism around mental health, ‘Mad House’ pairs atmospheric, alt-R&B with the stunning voice, and sophisticated prose, soon to become signature of Taylor Bleu. The track is accompanied today by a dreamlike video directed by Jordan Martin – a warped and surreal scrapbook of memory, constant motion, and the quiet power of your imaginative world within.
“Mad House’ had to be the first release,” writes Taylor, “because it’s my foundations, it’s where I come from. No matter how hard I try to write about other things, the majority of my life has been devoted to caring for and battling with someone who is unwell. ‘Mad House’ is representative of my resilience. I kept my mum’s cries in at the end of the song because although it might not be palatable, it’s been my theme tune for years, and I haven’t ever been able to turn it off, this time I can.”
Taylor Bleu was born and raised in South London. He grew up surrounded by challenges that meant music, when it came, was a place of safety. At 9 years old, he was chosen to sing solo at a youth Gospel Choir at Croydon’s Fairfield Halls, and something unlocked. Later, Taylor worked as an usher at the Royal Opera House, recognising even as a fish-out-of-cultural-water something in the uncomfortable beauty of a legato. But music was the release, and never part of the plan, until now…
