“That’s Skylights… sounding really good” – John Kennedy, Radio X
Yorkshire Indie group Skylights are bringing their latest single “Need Me” to their Scottish fans with a couple of live gigs this week. The lads are nearly as well known in Scotland as they are in their home county of Yorkshire especially York & Leeds. Where they have performed a number of times in association with Leeds United including on their centenary video.
Music journalist Bill Patrick said of their latest single “This song is nothing short of breathtaking. From the very first note, it pulls you into a whirlwind of raw emotion, building layer upon layer until it explodes into something truly unforgettable. The sweeping string arrangements add an almost cinematic beauty, creating an atmosphere that feels both fragile and massive at the same time.”
Skylights, consisting of Rob Scarisbrick (vocals), Turnbull Smith (guitar), Jonny Scarisbrick (bass) and Myles Soley (drums). Their music blends Britpop and post-punk influences, drawing comparisons to bands such as Oasis, The Verve, Courteeners, The Clash and The Music. Skylights give their loyal fans music which sits comfortably alongside the current wave of working-class UK indie bands such as The Reytons, The Lathums, Shed Seven, They supported the latter group at a gig in Millenium Square in front of a capacity 6000 crowd.
“Check these York lads out if you like a bit of uplifting indie rock“Shed Seven
